Daria GABRIEL has lived most of her
life between New Orleans, LA and the west coast. She studied at the University of New Orleans and then continued at
Claremont Graduate School in southern California, where she received her MFA. Her first installation was at the Contemporary
Art Center in New Orleans and featured a sound piece that gained much praise. Following the exhibition, she collaborated
with various punk rock bands of the 80's, turning her attention to film. She produced several video documentaries
of artists for PBS, and created a number of video installations. In the mid 90's she began working extensively with
painting and sculpting, and has continued since, attracting private collectors from the United States and Europe. Daria
Gabriel has participated in artist in residency programs for museums within the San Francisco Bay Area, and recently
went to both the Midi-Pyrenees region of France and Paris to complete a new series.
